Will I still get the fixed rate

I applied for the 1 year fixed rate with Birmingham Midshires today, they are sending me an application through the post. Now the bank rate has been lowered will I get the original rate?

Comments

  • Slim chance. They are very slow with their administration. It took over 3 weeks from my application to its return due to account closure.

As post #2 .... if you're not currently a customer with BM and need to send a cheque to open the account (for ID purposes) - they're a bit slow. If you completed the application online and they've pre-populated it with your details .... it still takes 2/3 weeks from start to end. By which time ....??

Thanks to both of you for your replies.
I have now opened a fixed rate with B&B, I have an internet account with them and thanks to another poster on here, found out that I could transfer from one account into the new one without having to go throught my linked current account. I did it in a minute without any trouble. It pays a bit less that BM but It's better than losing the chance altogether.

I applied online for the BM 6.15% cash ISA. The application form will be sent to me for signature with the fields pre-populated, so I assumed I will get the rate. Time will tell.

(Note as at 11pm 6/11/08 it is still available online at 6.15%).
