MP3 downloads services

I am looking at the napster, tesco and woolworths music downloading services.

Do any forum members subscribe to these or use these ?
What kind of service do they provide?

I have an archos av 560 and I am looking at the best way of building up a music library.

Thanks Teresa

  • Are there also any voucher codes that can also be used with any of these services?

I've only ever bought music from iTunes, and I know you can get gift vouchers for it.

Whenever I want to download music from the Internet, I use the Tesco download store as I consider them the best, cheapest and safest in my opinion. :)

It might be worth signing up for a month or two membership of Napster. I'm reckoning on listening to quite a bit, then deciding which tracks to buy, and downgrading the membership to Lite (unpaid tracks then become unusable).

I haven't registered yet, but I'll try and come back to this thread later.

Several record label sites have free sample tracks available for their artists, and the BBC 6Music website has loads of clip samples (about 30 seconds long) that might give you a first glimpse of artists you'd heard of but not heard.

type a name in the Artist Database box on the right, maybe read the biography, then click discography ...

TERESA Try WEBSITE {BLUBSTER} LOADS OF FREE UP TO DATE OR OLDER TYPE MUSIC ALL FREE?

I've just bought the Tesco MP3 as shown on MSE at £9.95 256mb!

I've looked at "Blubster" and they charge you a fee!

Is this a one off fee?

Has anyone used this system and if so are they better or worse than any other music site?

Many thanks for any help in this direction as brand new to MP3's and don't want to get ripped off!

  • I had a nightmare with napster - after eventually signing up for free trial managed to download 1 track, which wouldn't copy to my mp3 and I haven't been able to log in since. I've cancelled but have since heard that it's a bit of a nightmare for viruses. Have used Woolies & Tesco no problem (if you know what you're looking for) and there was a thread a while ago (maybe in the freebies forum) of free download sites which might be worth a look...

    Good luck!

  • I think blubster is a p2p site which are not generally condoned as these normally involve the illegal sharing of music files, these can be of poor quality for starters. I wouldn't bother. We're supposed to stick to legal stuff on here anyway:rudolf:.

My favourite is napster for some stuff but I also often use emusic.com, you get 50 free downloads when you sign up, you can cancel at any time. There's not such a wide selection on there but its good at least for the first 50.

Blubster is another file sharing program (P2P). It would come under the same class as all the other file sharing programs out there. Not only would most of the downloads be illegal to share/download, it is against the rules of this site to discuss such programs.

    Reported to abuse.
