Warm the Cockles of me art!

:D I love cockles and have bought a couple of jars today as a treat:j :j Just wondered if anybody does anything else with them apart from just snaffle them from the jar?

Lol, after my own heart! We bought two tubs from Swansea market two weeks ago as Dad had a craving - loved them and now I've got a thing for them. Would be interested to see some receipes, but I'm a straight from the jar type of girl! :T

Depends whether they're in brine or vinegar Nels.

If they're in vinegar they're really just for snaffling. If in brine then they make good addictions to tomato based spaghetti sauces or fish soups. ;)

I did have a meal in Swansea of Sea Bass and they were in the salad that came with it so a nice accompaniement to a fish dish!

Well I eat cockles straight from the container, with a bit of vinegar & pepper, can't be beaten, especially if eaten on the sea front. If they have to be cooked, then their fried in the fat from the sausages & served with laverbread.
