This is what makes it so unfair. It's this company's job to win and they know the longer they leave it to respond the less time you have to prepare yourself for any last minute questions/queries that they may throw up. The company we were fighting had their own in house soliciter. I think they also try to delay it in the hope that you will give up.But this is why we were so annoyed with Acas, they gave us no help at all. We wanted to complain about them, but by then we had had enough!

Yes it is very unfair, but in my case they will very much regret letting lawyers handle this rather than fixing it properly themselves.

Just to give you a taste of what will be "discovered" if they do:

To discuss some health & safety issues I had finally seen fit to formalise in an email to my boss, he called me to a meeting in a coffee bar where we work. We had a long and ok discussion about the issues and he acknowledged them all except one item where I had described some hearing protection as an "obsolete" model (actually it was).

His mobile phone rang towards the end of the discussion. "WHAT?" he said into the phone "What do you want?" Then "I am in a meeting" and soon after closed the call.

Nothing unusual about that perhaps.

However, then he choses to explain it to me:

"That was !!!!!!"
"You are honoured Pete that I should turn down !!!!!! to finish off here with you".

This guy is not a mate of mine and I have never spoken to him in such familiar tones.

I was surprised but then again, not surprised.

This is the type of manager I had until two weeks ago.
