Fed up with charity donation phone calls
We are signed up with the telephone preference service but keep getting phone calls from some woman who wants us to donate to charities. We keep asking her not to ring but she keeps doing so. It sounds like the same person and could well be a foreign based company, although I don't know that for sure.
Next time I am all ready to take her details down. Not sure what I need to ask though and what, if I get them, I am supposed to do with them.
It's driving me nuts!

I'd inform your phone provider as it seems likely that they're ignoring tps rules (and also sounds dodgy)for more info check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk . You'll find me there.

yes, I realise I may appear cold and heartless a lot of the time.0 -
I agree as most legit charities and their contractors will not phone you if you telll them not to.0

telephone preference service only stops calls from england/britain
The only thing you can do is keep repeating 'do not ring this number again'
nothing else, just keep repeating it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Keep them on the phone for hours at their cost.0

Tell her it's a bad line and ask her for her number so you can ring her back..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

You listen to them for a few seconds then say 'Hold on, I'll just go and get a pen to write this down.' then leave the receiver next to the phone. They'll eventually hang up when they know you're not coming back.0

Ask which charities, then her name and contact the charities direct. I suspect you will find it is a scam and the charities know nothing about these calls.0

If you're on BT and have a digital display phone get BT Caller display which is free, then in the future you can recognise the number and not answer it, or answer it with a loud scream down the phone0
