I hate Land of Leather - help needed?

Am so annoyed with Land of Leather and don't know what to do now.
We bought a new suite in February of this year, and we were sold the insurance that comes with it (damages etc). The chap that sold it us, really did a good job of selling it - we had our 2 year old with us at the time, so the sentence we remember him sayin was if she was to get black crayon on it, or any accidents we would be fine.
Yesterday we notice 3 or four marks on the three seater - they look like biro but aren't, because we don't use pens in the living room. I've no idea what they are, but I wasn't worried, as thought we were covered. I call up today (Homeserve) who administer the scheme, who say we are only covered by stainage from spillage and structural problems. To be honest the insurance certificate says this, but I didn't notice when it was delivered.
The problem we now have is we aren't covered - Homeserve won't do anything and LOL say we can't upgrade the policy.
I don't know what to do - I appreciate this is something we need to deal with, and I'm not expecting them to do anything about this mark, as we weren't covered at the time. However they told us clearly we were buying the most comprehensive form of insurance, to cover accidents etc. Thats what I wanted with a 2 year old. And now we can't upgrade to this, and I'm stuck with a cream settee that is bound to get marked etc. What is a joke though was they said we had only 3 days to upgrade from the sofa being delivered - when the insurance certifcate wasn't sent out until later.
I feel like its our word against the bloke who sold it to us and LOL are rubbish at customer service. I hate them - don't buy from them.

You Have Fell For The Sell The Insurance Cover Trick..
You Have Up To Six Years Cover Under The Sales Of Goods Act If Something Stops Working Ect EctIt is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

Would you go to a solicitor for a flu jab?
So why purchase insurance from a novice?
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
Its just one of those things I suppose, if I was forking out a few hundred quid for sofa insurance, Id definately take a gander through the documents / policy once it arrived.
