I'm wondering if it's a promotional MP3 player from Virgin, hence the VSG (Virgin Store Groups?) on the back.

It probably is. On startup is says Virgin MegaStores.

It is about 60 mm long and 25mm wide.

Memory is 1gb

The battery lasts for ages.

Unfortunately it came in a plie of junk without instructions. I can use it but every now and then I end up in a blind menu option and spend ages trying to get it back to normal use mode.In daylight the screen is too dim so you can't afford to fumble with it.
