Etap in Europe - Good or Bad?

Taking a city break to Berlin early next year. Looked at Etap - prices are good, but OH says they are mainly for the young on stag do's! As we only use the room for sleeping, I can't see the problem. Four nights were 246 Euros. Really cheap.Any one had any experience of them? Thanks.

I stayed at one in Sheffield and we got a refund on the room. It was like a broom cupboard, i laid down and almost snapped my spine, the mattress was solid.
Imagine if Easyjet did hotels.....0 -

The Etap hotels in France are great: clean, comfortable, practical and cheap. If you just want somewhere to shower and sleep they're just the job. We've used them all over and never seen a stag do!0

Etap's are great as long as you don't expect the ritz.
Double bed + an extra single (on a bunk) very useful if 3 of you need a room.
En suite shower sink & toilet
Cheap, clean.
Small and standard issue, exactly what I need for somewhere I only want to sleep in.0 -
Stayed in the one near Cit! Europe a couple of weeks ago and it was nothing special though fine as a room for the night. The only slightly odd thing was the shower was basically in the room (obviously there was a shower door..), which is fine if you are a couple, maybe not so good if you are shy and sharing with friends.0

etap are essentially the same group as accor and i think campanile...
there is an etap/campanile/suite hotel in cite europe - we stayed at suite hotel a couple of years ago, huge room, bit of a kitchen, shower bathroom, and not that expensive.
you always get exactly the same with these sorts of hotels, think of them as a continental travelodge.

To be honest a bit more basic than a travelodge. Think Formule 1 with shower and toilet in room rather than along corridor (which is actually what they are). Nothing wrong with them as long as you don't expect too much
They are designed to be serviced in less than 5 minutes0 -
I stayed in four last year when travelling through france and they can be a bit hit and miss - we stayed in Rouen and that one was Horrid but the one in Rennes was OK - I wouldnt want to stay in one as a holiday but if your using them to rest your head as you are travelling through they are just the ticket.0
