Been looking at an Acer tft monitor for home use. But how big? Just needed for normal home use. I have a 17" crt at mo.
Was looking at a 19" but is that too big?
Thanks
Want to spend £150-£200

A 19" tft will run at the same native resolution as a 17" tft, the only difference is that it's larger in physical size.
As a rough guide a reasonable (up to date, recent) 17" tft will cost you around £170-200, and a 19" tft from about £250.
You can get cheaper alternatives. Either way I'd read around, check out reviews etc... Acer aren't bad, but they're not great either. I'm sat infront of one now at work. Average screens often with a cheapish, or plasticy looking build."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Where were you looking at purchasing the Acer display from? eBuyer have a few of them at very cheap prices. http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=UFNQcm9kdWN0U2VhcmNoUmVzdWx0cw%3D%3D&mfr_uid=174&cat_uid=12&keywords=&order_col=sell_price&order=ASC&show=stock&Submit=filter tigermatt0

medion 17" tft monitor for £99.00 in somerfield today. only 2 left in the Middlesbrough store though0

i would recommed 17. 15 is too small and 19 is ok if you have the space.I have finally acknowledged my debt.....0

The Acer TFT's usually have an 8ms response time, which is probably much lower than the Medion ones.
They are a very good quality monitor - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one.Women priests. Great. Now there's priests of both sexes I don't listen to - Bill Hicks.0 -
I use a 17" at work and I think it's perfectly big enough for home use - a 19" would probably be better but not neccesary if you can save a hundred quid.0

The 19" would be the better buy if you wanted to use it as a tv as wellI'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0
