BR is basic rate and is basically equal to about 31%. Week 1 gives you a standard tax code and tax is deducted as if it were the first week in the financial year.
To change it, you pretty much do that. HR will know how to handle it.0 -
Where do you get 31% from for BR?BR is basic rate and is basically equal to about 31%. Week 1 gives you a standard tax code and tax is deducted as if it were the first week in the financial year. After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union

20% income tax and 11% national insurance.
All you need to do is make the £75 a week job your 2nd job and the BR code will be applied to that one. All your personal allowance should be applied to the higher paying job.0 -
Just to clarify the matter on national insurance. Provided that your two jobs are not connected in any way then each will be treated seperately for the calculation of national insurance. This means that in both jobs you will be allowed to earn £105 a week, the earnings threshold, before you pay NI. So no NI would be due on the £75 job.0
