E 07/01/06 Sunday Times Travel Quiz

The Sunday Times is running its usual Travel quiz this year. The questions are quite hard (for me anyway) but the answers can usually be found on the internet after a little work. The prize is a £12K holiday which is definitely worth having but it is also quite fun researching the questions (I usually try and get my family involved over Christmas).

More details and the questions can be found here:http://travel.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,18929-1934461,00.html

The answers that I (with your help) have managed to get so far are set out below. When I get time to work on the rest of the questions I will post my answers here and if anyone else knows any of the answers please post them and I will try to collate them together by updating this post now and then. In particular we now seem to need the answers to 2 final questions, the first (question 14) is the name of a site where divers can see rifles, motorcycles, mortar shells and a steam locomotive. The second question asks you to name 4 famous statues that are pictured at the above link - does anyone have any ideas?! I am stumped!

speckyhen, I think you're right. I said Yap because I had seen somone had asked the question on another forum, and someone said that was the answer and I couldn't find anything different. But it looks like they were wrong and you were right.
  • ref 12 (c) I do not think that Wigan holds city status so it could be either a mistake in the question or a red herring. What do you all think?
