just wondering how i can claim this? i have been signed off work sick for ten days and the agency i work for doesnt pay sick pay ( i know the rules on agency workers have changed but i looked it up and i dont earn enough or work enough hours to qualify for it through work)
i have to claim off the government apparently but how? job centre? and what is the standard ssp that i would expect to get??

If your average earnings for the 8 weeks before you went sick are less than £90pw, then your employer- agency or not- is not liable to pay SSP. Your employer needs to give you form SSP1.
To claim State benefit ring JCP on 0800 055 6688. Your claim will be for Incapacity Benefit & Income Support if you became sick before 27/10/08.
If you became sick on or after 27/10/08, the claim will be for new Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).0
