I'd expect them to drop rates overnight Thusday/Friday - it's what they did two weeks ago and I just missed out on 7% for 6 months.
Agreed, but in the past they have failed to update the rates on their website until the following day and by the time you find out it's too late, so I'd advise people to proceed with caution this evening..0 -
Just read your reply, MumofThree... guess that kinda deals with my concern!0

Well, reading all this is making me a little worried now. I had money in an instant access account with KE and have just fixed it for a year at 7.15%.
Was this a bad decision?
Depends when you fixed it as to whether it will be honoured. Given the appaling handling of transfers over and around the take-over date, I dread to think how incompetently ING might handle a transfer of KE accounts to their own systems.. As I say some people are still waiting for transfers initiated of 7/8 October and we've still got to do battle over 'lost' interest that they are supposed to be paying usCHAPS requested 10 Oct, left KE 15 Oct, finally arrived 18.00, 4th Nov0 -
when i signed upto natwests esaver account it was 6.5% just checked now its 6.0%

I have already posted on other KE threads to say that the staff at KE have been saying on the phone for a COUPLE OF WEEKS now that NO NEW FIXED DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS ARE BEING ACCEPTED.
They confirmed this to me via email yesterday.
They did not answer my concern that their website continues to allow people to 'apparently' successfully open them.
I got my money out a week ago & hope I'm in time to get fixed rate deposits with Anglo Irish."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
ICICIBANK still offering 7.1 fixed for a year. They advertised in advance for a good while before the recent cut from 7.2. I have three of their term accounts now.
I'm still liking ICICI (what with their full FSCS guarantee and all). They also have some pretty respectable longer-term rates, as well as the 7.1%. http://www.icicibank.co.uk/hisave_fixedrate.html
On a general point, each 0.1% difference in interest rates "only" counts for £40 interest pa (on £50k of capital), so remember this when chasing the top top top rate....0 -
Hi guys,
just saw this on their website re halifax fixed rate websaver:
"Open and fund a new 3 month term fixed rate Halifax Web Saver before 7 November 2008 and receive 7.00% AER on balances of £500+. Please note - different rates of interest may apply for accounts opened on or after 7 November 2008."
also:
"Please note: To open a fixed rate Halifax Web Saver, you will need to open a variable rate Halifax Web Saver account first. A fixed rate Halifax Web Saver can only receive the opening deposit from a variable rate Halifax Web Saver."
How awkward!:hello: Trying my best to money save! :j:grinheart Sealed Pot Challenge 6 #2100 :grinheart0 -
I"ve just opened up a 9 month fixed rate web savings account with Halifax at 6.5% today because it finishes tomorrow, but you have to have a variable web savings account with them, and my money was already in the variable account so only had to be transfered from that account.0

Oh man, this is baaaad. So not only am I not going to get the fixed rate account, my money's going to be tied up until they give it back to me, at which point I'll miss all other accounts which are being withdrawn even as we speak.

I just opened a 3 month halifax account - and can confirm rate is still 7% (6.82% for the three months showing in my account details). I am an existing customer.0
