British Airways sale

Options
I want to book flights to LA with British Airways for next July. They are having a sale at the moment for flights upto end of June 09. Does anyone who uses BA regularly know if they are likely to announce another sale which covers July and August. The best price at the moment is about £2800 for 4 from Manchester. Should I book or should I wait?

There is no indication where you want to go, business routes often have reduced prices when businessmen aren't travelling but if you are hoping for a reduced rate to Orlando, the Caribbean or the Indian Ocean,( or anywhere popular during school holidays) you should book now as these prices will probably rise rather than fall. If you want New York, you might wait a while and see what happens...

Sorry, obviously blinded temporarily. BA rarely discount LA in peak season, fares have been as high as £700, United, American and Virgin sometimes slightly cheaper, even Air New Zealand run that route from London but the last time I flew mid July, the fares were incredibly high. There are no direct flights to LA from Manchester on any airline, so you will have to either fly down to London and take a direct flight from there, or fly to New York Chicago or Atlanta and change. You avoid London, but you get to discover how dreadful US internal flights are now, I would always take the BA route via London. If you are travelling early July, say up to 10th or so, there might be deals later, depending on how bad the recession turns out to be but if you want school holidays, £700 each is not bad. That fare will include teh current fuel surcharge, which ha just been reduced and might be reduced again if oil stays down.

Thanks for this. Have never been to US before. Prefer to travel BA because the stop off is in London. Unfortunately will have to go school holidays about 22nd July. BA have a price promise so might try this if I can find it cheaper elsewhere. At the moment lastminute.com is comming up with about £2550 which is the best Ive seen (for 4). Looks like ther is no point in waiting.

BA price promise is for the day you book only.
