hey thanks DP for the info he has not used any metal strips the the two mated surfaces that I can see, they are one up against the other much the same as the old worktop which was done by the housebuilder and very neat, will look for some of the evo stuff at B&Q tomorrow
    regards
    Pete

Go for it. You'll be fine and have a real Ready Brek glow when you get it right. Don't hover around the Evo too long! :D

    Hiya,

Had a new kitchen worktop installed while I was away but the installer didnt put on the end finish strip on (friend of a friend job who did it cheap and had a real nitghmare by all accounts so dont want to really ask), apparently he didnt put it on as he said they are rubbish, in the past apparently the where ironed on, these ones are suppose to be stuck on and he said they are no good and fall off real easy he suggested gettting a metal strip which screws on from the likes of B&Q, question is are they really this bad and if they arent whats the best thing to stick them on with, if they are really bad then I will just finish it off with a metal strip.

    Any comments gratefully apreciated
    Pete

Hi I have just put 2 40mm black end strips on as the worktop is black ebony from B&Q. The strips in B&Q are £7.50 each. And in toolstation http://toolstation.com the silver ones are £1.28 if you have one close by otherwise postage knocks it up. and screwfix http://www.screwfix.com where i had mine from black or silver costs £2.99 (but they do offer a price promise) the strips cover any blemishes eg: i cut mine with a jigsaw and had wavey lines planed it down a bit not to much as the laminate chips it looked terrible untill i put the strips on 100% better.

When I had a kitchen installed in my previous place, the installers said the same, but the kitchen that came with my current house has the glue on ends, which look much nicer than metal and are showing no sign of coming off (kitchen must be at least 4 years old now).

We just got some of the metal ones from BandQ - £7.50 each - bloody extortion for a bit of metal !!

Tried on Ebay but couldn't find any although there is an internet supplier who does 2 for about £12 delivered.
    http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Hardware/Kitchen+Fitting+Hardware/Aluminium+Worktop+Strip+End+Cap+28mm+Silver/d170/sd2674/p19314

£1.32 each, spend over £10 and delivery is free - stores nationwide too.
