American fridge freezer LG

 Hope someone can help!

Has anyone got the LG GWB227WLQA model of American fridge freezer?

It is going to be kept in a garage for a while, til we extend our kitchen, but i want to buy one now. I have seen it for around £626 - £641.99 plus delivery.

Any advice would be appreciated!

  • Yes, we've been using once since start of '08. Its very effective, quite spacious because it doesn't have water chiller, and fairly quiet. Its supposed to be economical too, but I have not verified that. Freezer compartment is well organized, but a bit too small to store extra large pizzas, or store pizzas horizontally - but I think you'll find most American FF's are the same. Not sure it would operate correctly in a cold garage. You can find this model for under 600 (probably 579) online (Google LG GWB227WLQA) plus delivery.

thanks, i am deliberately looking at that one as it DOESNT have an ice maker/cold water dispenser. If I want ice or cold water, i'l do it myself! I cant believe how much room they take up inside!

thanks for your advice. where did you get yours from if you dont mind me asking?

We've got LGGWL227Y, the one WITH dispenser.

Had Samsung model at our last house, but after reading PAGES (on here & other sites) about the problems, decided to switch brands, this time.

As mentioned, the freezer isn't the biggest, but the water & ice machine are used & as it filters the water, it's Moneysaving, if you buy a lot of bottled water!!

Also, if you were looking for the black finish, you'll find that LG has the best, by far, smooth paintwork. Whirlpool have a bumpy effect, as does Hotpoint & Elextrolux & Samsung is just an 'orange peel' finish - bit like a cheap car respay might look!

Don't forget to buy on your Shell (petrol) or Nationwide credit card, so as to get the makers 1year warranty extended FREE, to 2 years.

& I think there was a LG offer in the box as well!

Cheaper than the store warranty if you wanted one.

We got ours from Boots & they have the fridge you want with £25ish of advantage card points back & £626 + £20delivery.

Thanks for that. I dont buy bottled water, we dont drink it. Council pop does for us!

I think this is the model I will be going for. I may get it through Boots, but as I already have almost £200 on my card and nothing to spend it on yet, I'm not sure!

Why cant you spend your points online!!!!

    Thanks again for the advice!

  • I can't recall other than I Googled and found the cheapest online deal - electrical warehouse, or something like that. I'd just buy it where its cheapest, counting delivery costs (which can be high for some retailers). Might be worth trying to price-match your local Comet, etc. as they sometimes do free local delivery... Good luck.
