I am considering changing CPS provider from BT. The majority of my Bill is made up of Internet dial up to BT Internet on a pay as you go basis costing 1p/min. We are changing to broadband Demon soon but need to keep the Dial up for a short period. I am presuming that if we change CPS then the Dial Up won't be available ? Is there a way of using the BT Dial up but more cheaply?

Pay as you go dial-up is always available, providing you dial in every so often. This limit will be set by the provider and might typically be a few months. It's always useful to have a fallback connection.
Remember it's 1p/min in the evening and weekend, and 3p/min during the daytime (Mon-Fri 06:00-18:00) with BT Together. If you are using a CPS and still paying line rental to BT, you can still make calls billed by BT by using a prefix, usually 1280. You may well find that it's cheaper to call 0845 with BT than another provider, so you would need change your internet dial-up number.
The other thing to bear in mind is that loosing the pay as you go account means you loose the e-mail address(es) associated with it. If you keep it active you can still send/receive e-mails on it.0
