any idea how to contact google checkout?

I did somehting foolish last month, I bought an item and used google checkout instead of paypal (it's not an ebay purchase).

After a month the status of my goods in Google show 'in progress' I have no contact at all from merchant and despite asking for the item to be cancelled I have heard nothing.

I have tried to find whether I have amy protection at all (it was backed by a credit card) but there is nothing at all in any of the FAQs about buyer protection, nothing at all there is also no way I can see of contacting google checkout.

I've tried the bank and they say I have no cover and even though I argued that it is just the same as paypal, they insists it is not the same and they can't chargeback and I must take the matter up with google..who i can't contact..arghh

Obviously I am not giving up with my bank and will make a formal complaint if necessary..but has anyone found anyway of contacting google checkout as a buyer?

I've sent a report off and have now found a mediation service on google (I'm getting a bad feeling about this)..however every time I enter my info I just get:
Oops! There was an error transmitting your data. Please try again.

Not very impressed.

I've just phoned the bank again and this time they have told me that I can talk to the dispute department after 8am as they might be able to help, so fingers crossed.

I feel I may be closing my Google checkout account.

I was about to use Google Checkout on my website but there was just something I could not put my finger on. I wanted to link up with google Base but my website was linked to an old address so i cancelled the old one so I could add it to the new one - but it will still not accept it. I tried and tried to find contact details but could find nothing. It was that that moment I paid £85 for an SSL Certificate for my website and decided I was better off processing the payments myself!!

There is something about it that I was not sure on really.

I know what you are saying blue_monkey, I am kicking myself here. It was a moment of stupidity, I had a £30+ item but knew I had funds in my paypal account (but less than the £50 needed to withdraw for free) so thought that I would use Google via a card rather than paypal from a balance as it would be safer.

If I had really thought about it I wouldn't have done it, but it was one of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time.My real worry is that I struggled to find a way to even contact Google untill you helped, and now the online mediation forms don't work which is a bit suspicious. When searching through all the Google FAQ I came across a remark that said that buyers are responsible for checking out the merchants before making payment as Google take no responsibility for merchants registered with their site

Blast, I will not lose this money.

Just an update. I have finally got hold of the company they blame it all on Google saying that they are struggling to contact buyers through the system and don't get the emails sent to them from customers either, just the orders.. They have supposedly now cancelled my order and say the refund will be made in 3-5 worling days.

I have also had a response back from Google that says:

Hello,

Thank you for your email. We understand you have a concern about Google
Order xxxx. We have contacted xxx on your behalf to
request that they respond to your inquiry. You should hear from xxxxx
or from us within five business days.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate
your patience while we work with the seller. As you may know, you can
check the status of your order any time at xxxxxxx

So basically the only protection you get from Google is that google will email seller on your behalf...hmm.

• I have had a problem with google checkout today concerning a refund from ebuyer.com. Far to complicated to go into details. Suffice to say that ebuyer will never have any of my business again.

Anyway as to contacting google checkout. I have found the following information.

checkout-support@google.com

gets a response. However not very usfull yet. As they have just quoted what was stated on my google account page.

I found the following address on a welsh pit bike site (says somthing about the way google plan on conducting busines).

Google Payment Limited
Belgrave House
76 Buckingham Palace Road
London SW1W 9TQ
United Kingdom
0207 031 3000

I have not used the phone number yet. I am going to give them until tomorrow before having a good whinge at them.

I hope this is usfull info. Good luck.
