Recently I have been very proud of saving some money, then the tv show and this site caught my eye.
I rcently regained my driving license after being banned for 12 months (not my proudest moment in life) and this obviously left me with very costly and limited insurance offers
The only companies offering me insuance were a few big names such as Direct Line, charging the likes of £1400 for 3rd party fire and theft.
I did a little searching, and started targeting the smaller companies online, and got my rate down to a brilliant £1040 - saving £400 roughly.
So before I purchase this excellent saving online, I phoned the company. I bare-face lied to them and said I had received an email telling me I may get an extra discount. After a £1/10 minute phone call, I had myself down to £700 - HALF the first dozen quotes I received. The dearest quote I originally received was £2100, but on the average of £1400, I saved £700 by shopping around then pretty much lieing to the company.
That has been my best saving so far.
On top of this, I have:
Been ordering a domino's pizza online, total price £19. Phoned them up because I was unsure of something, price came to £14.39, saving me £4.61
Purchased 10 journey tickets for the bus (useful when going out for a drink etc, I get 8 journeys for the price of 10, saving £2.30)
Shop online excessively for good deals, but received a shop with martins https://www.find-dvd.co.uk - I will be using this in future.
