Hello! I have recently bought a new laptop with vista premium in.I just want to connect to the internet but im having problems!
I found the connection pack we got when we first joined Orange in 2006.Popped the cd in...loaded up and told me to connect the modem up which I did....after half an hour nothing was happening but both the usb and adsl were flashing green. Anyway I decided to uninstall and start again but everytime it comes to putting the usb modem in,windows pops up saying I need to find the drivers (which they cant find) and both the usb and adsl buttons flash red.Tryed for the past 2 hours and no joy, anyone have any ideas?

Does the CD you have the drivers on it? If so, go into device manager and load the drivers from there, or when you get the pop up saying its looking for drivers, specify the CD.
Have you looked online to see if there are some more up to date drivers for your version of vista? You may be able to solve the problem by just downloading that.0 -

Not really
A quick google came up with these drivers:
http://www.demon.net/helpdesk/technicallibrary/Vista330Drivers/SpeedTouch/
but theres plenty of links out there for it.
You could of course just spend the £20 on a new modem.0 -
Thankyou both for your help.
Ok so my options are download the drivers on this pc then im assuming you mean put it on a disc and load up on the other pc?
Buy another modem?
Or buy a wireless router?
Could I then just forget about the orange pack I got and install say the new modem by itself and connect without having to go thru the orange set up? Do I just need my username and password to connect up or do I need an isp disc for anything?Dec Wins : Gold Leaf Necklace

routers give better protection from hackers, wireless routers let you move around the house without having trailing leads. Modems are old hat really.
Adsl routers are around £40, but if you phone orange, and ask for one, they will probably send you a livebox free - they give them out to all new customers. If they say no, ask for retentions.
What he said, get one of the freebie ones

Ok so I downloaded the vista driver and moved it over to my new pc and its all connected now! So thankyou guys will be phoning orange to see about one of those boxes too! But at least I can get online whey hey!
I do have one last question tho
Having set up all the modem and what not im just a bit anxious that ive done it wrong,is there anyway I could be charged per minute for what ive done (i.e if ive done it wrong?) or am I just worrying about nothing? as im pretty sure on broadband you cant get charged per minute? cheers!Dec Wins : Gold Leaf Necklace
