question about council tax

hiya 2years ago i was out of work from feb 2004 till feb 2006 partner worked but only earns 12k a year. I claimed jobseekers allowance but was only entitled to it till october 04, So basically stopped signing on, I paid all my council tax duringthis time.

Now i have had aletter saying because i didnt sign on my stamp wasnt being paid N/I and i can make a payment to bring it back upto date, im going to pay it but a friend of mine says. Because i was claiming Jobseekers and not working i should of claimed council tax just wopundering could this be backdated or have i missed the boat

You've missed the boat, I'm afraid, morgan78. They don't normally backdate it more than a month. There are a few circumstances where they backdate more than that, but not if you're applying retrospectively for past years.

If you'd carried on signing after your contributions bases JSA had finished you would've had your NICs paid.
