Sainsburys Visa changing to mastercard

Hi All,

First post on this board. Just received letters today to say that my two Sainsburys Visas are being changed to Mastercards. I pay off both balances in full each month so no worries there, but I do tend to make big purchases as necessary on cc's for the Visa guarantee and I'm not sure if this is affected by the change to mastercard? Just for the record, the only reason I have 2 is because one is for personal spending (usually groceries) whereas other one, although in my sole name, was used initially as a 0% for kitting out our house as FTB's and I've kept it on for DIY/household expenses as it is paid off from our joint acc rather than my own acc.

Never had a mastercard before so anything else I should be aware of? We've just sorted the mortgage for the next few years so could switch elsewhere and not worry about credit checks (which incidentally I've never had a problem with) I joined Sainsbury's about ten years ago for the nectar points but to be fair I try to keep all spending (credit and debit) as low as poss so we don't amass that many nectar points and probably wouldn't notice if we didn't get them! Usual monthly spend across both cards 200-400 and rarely upto about 700-800(e.g. christmas/holiday)

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

mcspanna

ALL UK credit cards offer exactly the same protection under the Consumer Credit Act, whether it be a VISA, Mastercard or American Express credit card.

Many credit card companies have/will be switching from VISA to Mastercard as it's now the preffered choice for them.

VISA is the preferred choice for DEBIT cards which offers protection under the VISA chargeback scheme, wheras Mastercard debit cards offer no protection.

Mastercard is accepted by more merchants worldwide than VISA.
