Why do I have to spend it like it grows on trees??

Why not get an extra job - couple of evenings a week or get a christmas job? maybe work in a bar or a cafe on a Saturday. That way 1) you won't be spending while you are working and 2) you will have a little spare money and will not have to cut back quite so drastically.
Just a thought.

No idea what I'm going to do!!
Is the £7 left after you have paid everything?
What do you need to buy this month?

What sort of things do you usually take for lunch?
Do you have cooking facilities, or at least a microwave to warm things up?

I'll second dancingfairy's idea of getting a second job. When I was in my early-20s I had a part-time bar job and loved it. It was in a nice pub and I eventually ended up working Monday, Friday and Saturday evenings, plus Sunday lunch, and the money I earned really helped me at the time. Working on Friday and Saturday nights meant I didn't spend anything going out, but the job was fun so it almost felt as though I was on a night out anyway - I was also in the age group of quite a few of the regulars of the pub so I got invited to a lot of after-pub parties
. This did mean I ended up working quite a few Sunday lunchtimes with a hangover!
Also, do you know anyone you could borrow some money from to help you out of your current jam? I can only, again, relate something from my own experience. When I was in my 20s I got into a bad way with a couple of credit cards. The debt was only something like £600.00 but they were store cards with high interest rates . I was earning around £400 or £500 per month at the time and I was pretty much only paying the minimum each month (and still spending on them). I eventually told my mum about it and she offered to lend the money to clear them but only if she didn't lose out on the transaction (my mum and I have a very clear idea of what is business and what is family). We eventually worked out that I was paying about 20% interest and she was earning about 5% interest so we agreed that she would lend me the money I needed to clear the cards if I paid her back at a simple 8% interest. I will mention here that all the figures I quote are from vague memory but they are generally correct as I remember them. She lent me the money and I agreed to pay her back at £50.00 per month, and I had to also cut up the cards. It was a huge weight off my shoulders at that time. If you do know someone who could help then don't be too embarrassed to ask. You don't have to ask for charity, especially the way interest rates are going at the moment - you could actually be doing someone a favour by asking them to lend you money that you will pay back at a higher rate than they will be earning by saving it but at a cheaper rate than you are currently paying. The only rule to this is that you have to make your debt to them an absolute priority and never, ever default on a payment.
Sorry about rambling on, but I would like to help you if I can because I can see myself in your posts, albeit about 20 years ago! Moving back in with your mum isn't that bad, honestly
.

Just had a letter from RBS asking me to cut up all my cards and send them back. I'm owe them money and they've already closed my key account (which I had a standing order set up to go into to pay my rent). I'm hoping the standing order gets sent back to my A&L account but I've been told by RBS that they'd be well within their rights to take the money. No indication on my Direct Banking that they've done that as yet though. My biggest concern is that I've already had warnings of eviction from the council due to rent arrears and the last thing I want at xmas is to be evicted (although I am moving back to my mother's in Jan). Don't want that against my name.
I have also called the CCCS and made an appointment for advice on my debts. Really getting me down though.life isn't a dress rehearsal, make it count! :beer:0 -
Oh sorry Julie, didn't see your post. Thanks for the advice. I might just go ahead with the family/interest thing as it makes a lot of sense.life isn't a dress rehearsal, make it count! :beer:0

try the hotels up there. ive worked in a couple of in aberdeen waitressing and they are always desperate for people.
i used to do 2 nights a week from 6 to about 10 and then on a sunday from 11 to about 5. took home about 200 every couple of weeks for that alone plus tips whcih added another 50 on every could or months.
also try your local newsagents n see if they have anything going or if you are good with kids and like them, see if you can put up a notice about babysitting or even being availible to clean for a couple of hours a night.
its not the end of the world, but you really need to avoid a ccj on your credit report. ive been there, done that and am still paying it back, but thankfully managed to avoid ccj's which has really helped my credit report.
