I tunes problem

in Techie Stuff
For some reason I tunes will not open on my laptop although it has previously worked.

I tried to download the update however it starts to install then says installation cancelled I tunes needs quick time.

When I try download Quick time it does the same???

Please help I have a new shiny I phone I am desperate to play with !

Laptop is Vista basic.
Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?

    Did you try installing Quicktime on it's own without iTunes first?

    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

    There's two options on this page. Try the the lower download option *without* itunes bundled. Reboot and then try installing iTunes again.

    If that doesn't work, try uninstalling everything iTunes and Quicktime related and then start again.

    When I try to remove the quicktime it doesnt I hit repair it says fatal error.

    I tunes removed tried allof the above
