Bath Size Help - 1600mm baths?

Hi ppl

We have a small bathroom approx 220cm long by 135cm wide. At present there is no bath in there only a shower, toilet and sink.

As we have just had a baby we want to redo the bathroom and install a bath.

To be honest we don't want to spend a lot of money as I have been made redundant recently and the OH is on maternity leave so we thought we would look at the cheaper suites in Focus etc.

Only problem it seems is they are mostly 1700mm x 700mm and then the basin wouldnt fit in the additional 500mm space as most of them are 550mm plus.

Can anyone tell me where I can get a cheap 1600mm bathroom suite (less than £300 if possible all in).

Cheers

Kaldewei do a basic 1600mm steel bath from around £100 delivered. Check on Ebay for possible sellers. But I think once you've added on the cost of the waste, bath panel, taps, basin and wc you will be looking at over £300.

By chance I used to live in Streatham so I can verify that this is a real plumbers merchants if you were concerned about purchasing big item like this from ebay. I got my bath from ebay as well as sink and toilet from two separate sellers. Saved loads and as they are all white, they all go together. Got Bristan taps for £25 (huge savings!!)

Yay, well done for finding that one! It even includes the Kaldewei bath.

And isn't Ives the shop opposite the Common? Been there since forever...

No that one is Potter Perrin. My FIL is a plumber so I know them all! I got a Kaldewei and it does feel so much stronger than other steel baths I've had.

This suite includes the bath panel, taps and wastes, but I'd check if the taps are suitable for your system (some work with high pressure only):

I've not dealt with any of those sellers, but I bought a cloakroom suite through Ebay and found exactly what I wanted at a brilliant price - mine came with taps wastes, everything included. Definitely worth a look!

Twyford Galerie or Ideal Standard Studio ranges both have 1500 long baths that may suit.

If i were you though i'd aim to fit a standard 1700x700 bath in and find a small washbasin instead. A short bath could be annoying ...especially if your tall. Ideal Standard Space range has a 44cm wide pedestal basin that would fit into your available 50cm. It'll all be a very tight fit for a bathroom of that size though. I think you'll need to up the budget though.

    Hope that helps

Yes I agree, very annoying, Travel Lodge baths I guess must be the 1500 long ones, you just can't relax in them, very uncomfortable.
Would an asymmetrical type of bath allow for better use of the available space, such as :-

I can recommend these guys whole heartedly as a very happy customer.

The link above is for a complete 1600 bathroom suite at £485, the bath, toilet, sink, accessory pack which is your toilet roll, towel, tooth brush holder etc etc. Better looking at the link to see what you get so you know exactly.

Taps for the sink and a waterfall fill for the bath which I love ( you do need decent water pressure for this and I had to fit a shower pump for mind and my thermostatic shower). Also attached to the bath taps is a separate shower head which is great for just washing your hair and giving the bath a swirl round.

As I said the customer service was second to none, swift replies and plenty help when required.

Even the delivery was excellent from start to finish, actually white lie there, only bad thing about the delivery was it was only one guy who delivered my suite on a lorry and luckily my 3 strapping teenage sons were there to take a corner each as it was all wrapped on a pallet in clingfilm and black plastic to secure it.

It's a beautiful suite and well worth the money. I got a 1900mm bath though as we are all tall in this house and wanted a bath where we could get the knees and shoulders under the water at the same time.

PS they do a 1600 bath on it's own for £129 which includes the front and side panels.

    Hope this helps.

PPS good luck when bubba arrives....... the bath will be the other halfs and your sanctuary for peace and quiet.
