I am in the market for a new laptop, lower end of the price range. It will replace our old family pc which is on its last legs. This seems like a good deal for a 17" screen, but I would appreciate your comments before taking the plunge:

(basic specs are: £379 for dual core processor, 2Gb ram, 160Gb hard drive for those who don't want to click on the link!). Any replies much appreciated.

Looks pretty good to me but then again I have been happy with Acers.
For an extra £20 you can get a better processor

This case and extended warranty is excellent value

you get good service you tell 2 people . you get bad service you tell 10
i cannot begin to tell how badly Acer treated me , on what was a very expensive laptop (£800+).
my glittering brand new laptop from Acer worked for less than 4 weeks . it was then stolen when in Acers care but apparntly that was my fault and i had to fight tooth and nail to get a refund .
it took 3 months , countless phone calls , threats of legal action , and having to endure a lot of could not care less staff, to get my money back from them ( they could not find me a replacement laptop even though they make them) .
beware ...be very aware of Acer . i will go without a computer before i buy one from them again

google some reviews of their so called customer service center too. when thier own staff are posting about how badly they are required to treat customers you know it is company to be wary of.
your choiceBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
My experiance was the complete opposite, I have found them very good. I had a problem with mine over heating, after a phone call they sent someone to collect it and a few days later had a courier return it to the door. Any other problems I have had have been sorted over the phone with no problems.0
