Sending electrical item abroad

I've just had a bid on an electrical item I'm selling which is great, but I've just checked and the bidder is in the USA. The item is a PS2 accessory and has a UK power adaptor and weighs close to 2.5kg.

Although I'm usually happy to ship overseas, I never put it as an option in this listing as I assumed nobody abroad would be interested. I've just realised however that I never specifically said in the listing that it was UK rated, although there is a clear picture of the adaptor.

I'm going to email the bidder of course to make sure he knows what he's bidding on but thought I'd ask a couple of questions first.

• Would this item be any use to someone abroad?
• Are there any issues I should be aware of regarding sending electrical items overseas?
• How can somebody bid on an item this heavy (the weight is in the listing) without asking how much it would be to post??! I really don't want to to faff around with couriers... maybe I should email them with the Parcelforce estimate and give them a shock.
