what hrlp can i get taking in family members kids

my friend has taken in family his wifes sisters 2 kids after her mum died and left 3 kids the eldest was looking after them but wanted to go out a lot so my friend decided to take them in hes now on family credit but wants to know what else he would be entitled 2 they r two girls ages 10 and 12 they r currently staying in one bedroom with bunkbeds would there be any grants available to make an extra bedroom? thanks in advance for any help

    if they are in council accomadation he might be able to get moved depending on how many other people there, he should get child benefit for them as well, also look at the council fostering site im sure theres something there about if you ar e looking after other children full time etc

    :confused: 2 girls in bunkbeds in one bedroom is more than normal can't see any reason why you would get a grant to make an extra bedroom.

    Have you claimed Guardian's allowance, child benefit and child tax credits.

    Have you got parental rights/responsibilities as this is essential!

    Kinship allowance might not be payable under these circumstances because it is only available for "looked after" children who have been placed with relatives through the Children's hearing system.
