save the children

I give to save the children a donation by direct debit each month.

Last week i got a letter inviting me to an open day down in London
which was to held 11am to 3pm - what i couldnt believe was that they then went on to say that a light lunch will be provided.

Now, i was absolutely furious about this. My donations are to fund underpriveleged children, not to feed people in this country for lunch
If it had been a fundraising event/open day it wouldnt have been so bad.
I wonder which bright spark thought this up. It could just as easily have
been held 1pm till 5pm or lunches could have been sold at the open day.

In any event i have now cancelled my subscription and donate to the same sort of charity elsewhere.

Anyone else have any views.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

It may not have been a fund raising event but this kind of thing could lead onto money been given. Plus sometimes it is important to meet people and get things like their views without the hard sell and not many people would go without the offer of free food.
