Because apparently, according to them, they are not allowed to legally because the invoice was made not made out to them.

I had some work done of my car which was covered under the warranty. On the day in question, despite trying all day, I only managed to reach someone at the warranty co at 5pm. By which time, I'd already had the work done and paid for it.

Trouble is they're now refusing to pay the VAT element.

Are they right here or are they trying it on with me? How do I stand legally?

What sort of warranty is it? Is it a manufacturer's warranty, a dealer's warranty, or an insurance based waranty.

Warranty on used vehicle supplied by dealers own warranty company - Reg Vardy.

  • draw up your own invoice for them + an admin charge or ask the person who did the work to re invoice the correct name

Strictly speaking they are correct. I'm VAT registered. I can only reclaim VAT on invoices that I have paid. For them to reclaim VAT on an invoice not issued to them would be fraud.
