I got 2 e-mails on Friday, both from the same ebay seller. Apparantly I was the second chance bidder in auctions for a designer watch and some Mercedes wheel trims, and he was offering me the chance to complete the deal outside ebay.
As I have never bid on either item, and the messages were not duplicated in "My Messages", I just deleted them without clicking on anything.
I got a message tonight from someone who thought they were a second chance bidder of mine and they wanted to buy the watch. This was duplicated in "My Messages".
On closer investigation, I've realised that my account has been used to send out the same spoof e-mails that I got on Friday
I've changed my password now, and my PayPal one is different.
Just be aware of this. I've no idea how they got my password as I'm really careful about things like this.
I have reported it to ebay, but just get the standard auto responses back

Did you accidentally click on a link on a spoof email anywhere?
My ebay account was taken over in the summer by someone who listed 100's of mobile phones. It took ebay 48 hours to sort it out and I had to stay logged on to ebay the whole time. If I logged out for 1 second they would change the password and list more and more mobile phones. Thank god I had broadband.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
As far as I know I didn't click on anything. I'm normally really careful and will usually open a fresh browser window to log into things, rather than clicking e-mail links.
Nothing has been sent this morning and I can still log in, so I assume it's ok now. Nothing has been listed or sold on my account either. Here I go again on my own....0
