  • Thanks CumbrianMale.

Kaz, I'm from Oldham, Greater Manchester.

    Ty again all :)
  • I got a general mailshot from provident with a rate that was over 50% I sent the top portion of the letter away ( the bit with my name an address on it ) with a note to say they should take my name off their mailing list cos if I get any more mail from them they will be in breech of data protection and I will take action.
I am fortunate I don't need a loan but I feel sorry for those who think 'well an extra £500 would pay for a nice Xmas' even when they can't afford it and will be paying it for many Xmas' to come, quite a lot of people don't even look at the interest - I understand it's lawful but I think the government should ban this kind of blanket marketing ( for the environment if nothing else ) as well as some kind of cap on interest rates chargable - IMHO if the banks are getting a hard time over the fees & charges they have advertised/charged this kind of interest rate should be unlawful also
It might not be right but it's my opinion for what its worth
Busy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:
  • Hi Little Sister

Was it an unaddressed mail shot or was it specifically addressed?

If it was in your name then it will be from a bought in mailing list. Again if you contact customer services they will happily remove you from the marketing database, however some marketing campaigns can contain more than one letter which are delivered in batches, so it could be up to 8 weeks before you stop receiving them.
    I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.
