Gas Prepayment meter stuck on same amount?!
Hi there
This is really weird... I've been checking my gas meter over the last couple of days and it is not using up any money despite having had the heating on. The dials still seem to be moving etc. Seems good but I'm wondering whether it will suddenly go down by a large amount.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
Lins
Ps I am with Ebico.

Sounds like a faulty meter (I'm assuming it's not been tampered with) and although it may seem a great idea at the moment will get discovered and then you'll be back-billed all in one go. If you've spotted it's faulty you should advise your supplier.0

As long as those dials are going round, you'll get charged. Maybe not today, but at some time in the future, you will get billed a catch up. If its faulty, best report it ?0

Thanks for your replies (no its not been tampered with!). I've just put in some more money to see if that would make a difference, hasn't yet. Anyway, I will contact my supplier.0

I would leave it as long as you can and see what happens. If your with British Gas they dont charge you for any debt on PP meters... so if it was they case that all of a sudden you got charged £300 after a couple of months, putting your meter into a huge debit, then they would just reset it for you, as it isnt really fair giving people who struggle with bills a PP meter... then telling them there in debt.Sunny in Southampton.0

I am with the same company and have the same problem, stuck on a rather high balance since earlier this month, i just wonder if its because they reduced their tariff earlier this year and i over paid, we did recently have change of tariff infomation.

As the internal clock will still be working you will definitely be charged for the gas used. This has nothing to do with Tariff debt and will be charged for so I would advise you to speak sooner rather than later.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

Not correct. Passing unregistered gas does get billed for.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -

Read this thread, it may explain why some people are seeing their meter stuck with EBIco:
