And yes, they will find out with P60 info at the end of the year.
And the police of all establishments to work with, could lead to a bit of trouble for your wife.0 -

Going to go through all the paperwork again and give the tax credit people a call.
The tax credit we receive is based on last years income which was not much due to my wife being on maternity etc so hopefully it will not have that much of an impact.
It just seems to me that nothing is ever straightforward even my wifes employers in payroll and the specific department who deals in this kinda thing did not advise us properly and made a big boo boo.
My wife says it has not just happend to us but to others as well and thats how this all came up otherwise we'd be none the wiser!!!
Thanks again for the advise

I had similar questions to the OP, though we are not yet claiming for child care via tax credits, as it only starts in April.
However I was just as confused, so thank you to everyone for making sense if the situation now.Karma is a wonderful thing.

I have had SUCH a head ache trying to work out if we would benefit from my wife claiming Child Care Vouchers or not. They DONT make it easy!
As it turns out (after hours of talking riddles with WTC people, Citezens advice, Forums etc etc) I dont think we would be better off. The drop in our childcare support with WTC would be greater than the gain through Child Care Vouchers... (I think..!)
Be wary of these Vouchers - They are not ALWAYS a good idea...
