Messenger for Mac Sign-In Problems

Hi, I'm having problems using Microsoft Messenger on my Mac to access my hotmail account.
Messenger Signs-in ok and I even get notified when new new mail arrives, but when I click on the "Mail" link to go to my hotmail account it pops up the login screen to sign-in with the following message
"The e-mail address or password is incorrect. Please retype the e-mail address and password, or sign up if you haven't already done so. Need help signing in? "
I type in the password which is exactly the same and it then logs me in but it happens every time.
I have tried reinstalling Messenger, Tried Firefox and Safari and that does not solve it. Tried saving passwords in the browsers and that does not work.
Can anyone help please:D
Running Leopard 10.5.5, Firefox 3, Messenger 7.0.1
