Southern Electric Preferred Customer Tariff

Hi,
I had a call last nite from Southern Electric saying we are a preferred customer (we switched to Eon fixed tariff about 2 months ago) and that they want us back etc...
Does anyone know if this is legit. SE were saying they can reduce our monthly DD payments from £55 which is what Eon are taking combined, to about £38 combined. It's not a fixed tariff though.
I'm worried this is too good to be true. When we were with SE, we were paying about £45 combined.

It's easy to say your DD will be lower, get you back then amend your DD to the correct sum! Work on usage figures and the actual unit prices to be sure before you jump suppliers (and check there's no Eon penalty charge for leaving).0

brysiewysie you are 100% right.
I did tell Southern Electric that I wanted to compare actual unit costs. They said that from the date the letter arrives on my doorstep, I have 7 days to cancel.
I know there will be no penalty charges from E-on as we specifically signed up for a "no contract" fixed tariff as we'll be moving out of our current rented property within a year.0 -

Could Eon have told you you would not have to pay any cancellation fee as you intend to end the agreement because you are moving house, but didn't make clear that a cancellation fee would apply if you switch supplier beforehand?
