Hi
am just looking at getting a desktop computer connected to the internet through a livebox but am wanting to do it wired. There is already another computer in the same room (we are in the process of changing computers and need to have an overlap with both computers working) which is using a wired connection
Im looking for a cable to go from our orange livebox to the desktop and dont really know what its called. I think it is an ethernet cable at one end (to plug into the livebox) and usb at the other end (at the desktop), is this cable called a usb2 cable?
am looking on amazon at cables at moment as have other stuff to order but cant work out what cable I need
thanks

Its a ethernet cable, RJ45 cable, that you required, one end plugs into you livebox the other end plugs into your LAN port on your PC.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0

thanks for that, so looking at amazon, for example HERE, would that cable go into the livebox and also the back of the desktop - ie do all computers have a hole for it to go into?

Yes, that the one you require, All modern PC have a LAN port look on the rear panel of your PC and you see a port that looks like the port on your livebox. If still stuck then google 'LAN Port images'Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0

Try this a 3m cable;

I would also advise on a Switch than a splitter, as splitter can cause problems or slow speeds
