the VISA debit (the co-operative bank issue) is a cheque-gurantee card which IS a form of credit - therefore the co-operative bank will NOT issue this to those under the age of 18. period.

the VISA electron is similar to SOLO, and works on the same understanding that the funds must be available before the transaction is able to take place.

the newly updated T&C's do NOT reflect this.

The thing is they also issue 2-in-1 Visa Debit Cards (not cheque cards) on the old, no longer available, Pathfinder Account and on their Business Accounts (if you call up and ask the business team about the business debit card they will confirm that is what they issue). So the bank can and do issue this type of card, and they clearly have changed their T&C (which do reflect the issue of a 2-in-1 card), now I am wondering why?

I emailed their marketing dept. but no reponse

What do you mean? As of 5 Dec they both have the same terms and condition concerning card issue, it specifically states in the T&C for the cashminder you will be issued with either a debit or electron card. As a cashminder does not come with a chequebook it makes no difference that a card might be a cheque card as you have no cheques to guarantee, do you?

it will be a VISA electron up until the age of 18.

i suggest you look at barclays or the alliance.

You are still not making any sense, I am well aware that Barlcays, LTSB, Citibank, A&L and others issue 2-in-1 Visa Debit cards.

The T&C's of the Cashminder account have been changed from:

"Terms and Conditions of the Cashminder account and Electron debit card."

    to:

"Terms and Conditions of the Cashminder and Debit (Visa or Electron) Card"

It would seem an awful waste of time and paper to send out all those new T&C's to their cashminder customers if the bank did not intend at some point to give Visa Debit cards to those with a cashminder account.

Are you acting for and on behalf of the Co-operative Bank Plc, or are these just your assumptions?
