Friend has a problem with her hotpoint 9536 washing machine. After a wash the door refuses to open. Have asked her to put it in spin cycle again and see what happens. No luck. Am going over to check the machine. Is there another way to open the machine? There is no water in the drum.
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

  • Turn the washing machine off by the plug socket :)

Should have made myself clearer. Is there another way of opening the machine? I expect to take the top cover off and open the door if it wont open from front.

  • Is there a time lapse between the wash ending and her trying to open the door?
All machines make you wait some time before the door will open after a wash.

if it is still full of water then the door won't open, you can either drain it by removing the filter at the front(if fitted), very messy, if you can wiggle the machine enough to get the drain hose disconnected from the waste and lay it down below the level of he drum the water will syphon out, older hotpoint models had a cable system also which sat on top of the drive belt at the rear to ensure that the door could only open when he drum is stationary, worth investigating whilst the top is off
