In a word YES,the limits on earnings vary according to circumstances from £5 a week to £20 per week,so for example if you were allowed £20 per week and you earn £44(8 hours at nmw)you would lose £24 of that income

Depending on their circumstances they will have a disregard of £10 or £20, after that their benefit will be reduced £ for £.

or £5 for a single person with no premiums.

so if she gets £75 income support and starts earning £40 a week, she will then only get £55 income support (£20 which is disregarded) if that makes sense
    is that what u mean?

I missed it out on purpose because they would be on JSA and not IS.

No, I was saying the £5 disregard applies to single people on JSA.

You would be working 8 hours to be £20 per week better off. Not sure of your circumstances but nearly always better to get 16hours per week minimum.

16 hours per week is the minimum no. of hours to have entitlement to WTC.

However if you do not have children and are over 25 that figure needs to be 30 hours pw. Exceptions to this can include if you have a disability or if over 50 years of age.
