Need New Chest Of Drawers!

Hi peeps! :hello:

Last night my bf and i decided that our bedroom needed a reallllly good spring clean and a move around!! So we have thrown away a lot of junk and also have a lot for ebay/charity shops etc. :j

But whilse we were moving things, we realised that both the chest of drawers and wardrobe were really on their last legs  , (i have had them for about 8+ years!).

Now, i have barely any money for new ones, so have decided to just get 2 sets of cheap chest of drawers rather than a wardrobe because we very rarely put anything in it anyways (well, apart from all my shoes!!).

Ikea has some drawers for about £60, but even this is stretching my budget alot. indifferent0025.gif

I would like to be able to have it all sorted out before Christmas really, so having some delivered isnt an option.

Any ideas of cheap ones anywhere??? Homebase has some good ones online, but not in store!!!!

Xxxxx

have a look in your local paper. your find that before xmas people get rid of furniture in excellent quality just cause they want rid to make way for new. and they can't be dealing with it hanging around near xmas.
other than that i would suggest being very tidy until new year then see what the sale bring. but i know what it is like to wanna get things organised.

Locally we have a couple of places which recycle furniture for charity. They repair any that need it before selling on.

I have only gives, but my son bought a couple of wardobes from then a few years ago. His were old fashioned, but you may get more modern ones now.

Buy antique or semi antique and it will keep it's value, or even increase it's value.
  • We put the Ikea Robin chest of drawers in daughter's bedroom - they do it in a not quite as nasty white as well as the nasty blue – and replaced the knobs from the put-a-toddler's-eye-out ones it came with.

I would however suggest waiting until the boxing day sales (MFI is always good for marking down) or hitting the charity shops.

the malm drawers are lovely and very solid [for veneered chipboard ;) ], unlike most of the others in ikea. you can also get inserts there that fit the malm drawers perfectly, to separate tights from socks etc.

I must admit I'm pleased with my Malm draws and I am really fussy. I think they are good value for money and easy to put together.
