A celeron is essentially a cut down version of a Pentium processor, and therefore not as good as the real thing. I'm sure other's will come to give you the specific technical differences though.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Why did Intel decide to cut down the version from the pentium processor?
So whats difference between centrino and celeron then?0 -

so what's a Pentium M then?
Is it somewhere between the Celeron M and the Centrino?0 -
Centrino is just a marketing name for a number of components that a machine must contain in order to be labelled "centrino". A pentium-m processor is one of these componets... other include specific intel chipsets and built in wireless.
You could, for example, have a system which has a pentium-m processor with a different chipset and no wireless... in this case you can't call it centrino.
The M's are dynamically underclocked processors, that is they save battery by "switching" to a lower clock speed and thus require less voltage. If you do a processor intensive task, the processor dynamically "steps up" in clock speed by applying more voltage.
I have a 1.8 pentium m as part of a centrino system. The processor sits at 600MHz most of the time. It steps up through 800Mhz, 1.0Ghz, 1.2Ghz and 1.8Ghz to save battery.0 -

Is it somewhere between the Celeron M and the Centrino?
- a Pentium M processor
- an Intel wireless networking card, and
- an Intel 855 or 915 chipset (don't ask)
If you were cynical, you would think Intel only invented the name to increase sales of these other products
Edit: sorry newfoundglory - I got the database error so many times you beat me to it0 -
