House of Fraser Mastercard

Hello all,
I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced problems with House of Fraser mastercards?
I have twice set up a direct debit to clear the monthly balance in full on the card, only for this not to take effect. the first time I was sent a letter telling me that the bank had no record of my request, and the letter was immediately followed (the next day) by threatening letters telling me I was in arrears.
I cleared the balance, and on receiving the next bill, I again phoned to set up a direct debit, which has not been taken from my bank as yet (it should have come out on 31/10), I called the card people to tell them that there seemed to be a problem (at 10p a minute) in that the money hadn't left my bank account, only to get no-where with them.
Has anyone else had a problem with them or am I just unlucky here? I'm reluctant to cancel the card...
