I cant swear by this without looking at it but usually when a pc turns itself off its because the cpu is overheating, generally this means its on its way out, like i say cant be 100% without checking it but that would be my educated guess, is it an old laptop?November Wins: 50p voucher Danone

I had problems with battery and bought a new power pack which seemed to do the trick, but I always have to be plugged in.....if i move round the house but dont take plug with me after about 5 mins it always goes
now though its going even with power in it....
anyway I can check and would you think its worth getting repaired, or better to write off ?0 -

To rule out wether its your operating system or not, and if you have a CD rom in it, why not download and burn one of the many distributions of Linux available. You can boot from the CD (and not install or alter anything on your harddrive) see how it holds up and at least eliminate wether its the Operating system or the actual hardware.
You can get ubuntu which is one of the most popular at https://www.ubuntu.com
Linux is free and is immune to all those windows nasties out there

Can you press the "Break" in that 2sec gap where the error message shows?0
