I am having problems with my PC and not sure if it has a virus not. I am with BT and have Norton Security so am trying to run a scan. In the bottom right hand side of my screen is a message which says Security Alert: NetWorm-i.Virus@fp. I also keep getting a screen pop up which says Warning Virus/Attack detected, then activate now or continue unprotected. Then behind this screen is another which is Ultimate Antivirus 2008 Security Centre, this lists lits of virus's ie, Wild Trojan 4, Trojan Vx14 etc. Does anyone have any idea what this is? Whilst typing this another message has popped up saying my computer is infected with adware or spyware. Sorry if this is the wrong place but I don't know where else to post. Thanks.

download, update and run Malwarebytes
http://www.malwarebytes.org/
delete everything it finds and post the log it produces....should sort out most things, and we'll take it from there..........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

It is rogue software - it will tell you that you are infected and if you buy their product it will sort you out.
As above download Malwarebytes and run that
Malware Bytes
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.- Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
- Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
- When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
- When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
- Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Then click Finish.
- MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
- On the Scanner tab:
- Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
- Then click on the Scan button.
- If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
- The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
- When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
- Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
- Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
- Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
- When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
- The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
- Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

I'm giving it a run-out, if it is better than superantispyware, then I will put it on all the PCs I fix.Never Knowingly Understood.

Keep them both - the free editions both operate in a reactive capacity and therefore will not impact on system resources.0

patman - if you want a real-time spyware product, I use spyware doctor. It's free, and a good compliment to the other two progs...get it from www.majorgeeks.com......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
