Credit Card Query.. Payments

Hello Everyone

This month, i paid £700 off of my nationwide credit card. Every month, i always pay on time - although its usually only £50 or £100 and i usually spend it by the end of the month again anyway, but i always pay.

When i pay these £50-£100 payments, the money is clear and available on the credit card in two days, maximum 3 days (although i think it has always been 2 days)

This £700 i paid in last tuesday, and it only clears today. I have checked every day as i have been trying to reduce the limit to stop me from spending it again! But it hasnt cleared until today.

This has happened once before. When i opened my virgin CC, i transfered the full balance from my nationwide account onto the Virgin one, this took 10 days (it was a bank holiday so i expected a slight delay - but 10 days?!)

Its seems to be only when i pay a large amount does it take the longest time possible to reach the account. Although i do use internet banking and do an instant transfer from my current account to my CC, The money reaches the card the next day, but didnt Clear until today.

Is it something to do with the interest they can charge me, do they just want to hold on to my money as long as possible, or do they not believe that i actally have that money to pay it off!!

It just always seems to be when i pay a large amount, i paid off another £50 saturday, and that cleared today too?!

I have noticed that too. Also with other companies like paypal too. Very strange.
