Hi, i need a bit of advice with everyone telling me i can save with them someone is not telling the whole truth.
The problem is, i was with nPower Standard tariff paying £66 per month for gas and £35 for elec and was paying monthly direct debits.
I did a search online to switch using uSwitch about 3 weeks ago and it told me that british gas click energy 5 was the best deal, and so i switched to them. After this nPower phoned to say they where giving me a better deal and that british gas where moving to click energy 6 and so prices where going up. At this point they persuaded me to stay and to move to capped 2010, this was last week. But by the time this happened i am already moved to british gas and that it would be another month before i move back again.
So the question is, do i move back to nPower or stay with british gas?
It is an absolute mine field out there with people swearing they can give you a better deal... but who is right?
Thanks
James

You shoudl not listen to Npower or British gas on this.
If you are lazy and happy with an approximation then use one of the comparison sites.
If you want an exact figure then look at past bills and work it out from the tarriff. The Maths should not be too hard.
But you won't get the right info from the vested interests.
I got really stroppy with Npower and made a complaint when a guy rang me and told me that prices were going up something like 48% at British Gas.
I don't remeber the exact figure he quoted but I was moving electricuty only and his comments were highly misleading.
I ahve to admit i was quite rude to him (I felt he deserved it) and I amde a formal complaint about him.
You really cannot expect a sales person to tell you the truth here.
He probably wasn't trying to mislead me, but he used the wrong figure in the context, so expect all manner of dirty trciks.0 -
The thing is i have only lived at the property for a month now and wanted to get the best deal from the get go, but doesnt look like that is going to happen. I am just wondering if anyone knows up front which tarrif is best..?
Yeah i am yet to find any sales person who is truthful, and they wonder why people just hang the phone up on them and are treated the way they are. But i suppose they are all doing it so its not 'their' fault... oh well its every consumer for him/her self! lol0
