GoDaddy being very unhelpful

I've recently allowed a domain to expire as I thought I no longer needed it. My godaddy account has an email address of that domain listed as the contact address however I can't change it as I've forgotten my login details. I've got in touch with godaddy about the situation and they've requested a copy of my business license, which I don't have as the business is not registered. Every time I reply to them to explain that in the UK it is not always necessary to register a business, and even offer to send scans of bank statements with the company name on, they just send me a template reply saying I'm not the legal registrant and they cannot assist. I'm not sure how I can take this further as they're being very impersonal about it by just sending template emails, does anyone have any ideas?

If your domain name has been re-registered by someone else due to the registration lapsing, there's not a lot you can do - it's been lost. If its been registered by someone else then no, you're not the legal registrant, they are. A domain name isn't yours for life! The only way you could possibly get it back is if you had a recognised worldwide trademark such as Nike and someone was cybersquatting.
