Tax Credits rant!

Wasn't sure where to put this, or who to complain to, so just letting off steam here!

I'm 23 and my fiance is 38. I work full-time, just making ends meet and no more, struggling by on a DMP and he is unemployed for a year now, struggling so hard to get a job, any job.
So i looked onto entitledto.com, and said we could apply for tax credits - then visisted the tax credit site and we're not getting anything from them becuase I'M TOO YOUNG. The worker has to be over 25!!! Damn my 2-year shortfall, and when i went back to play with the numbers, that means i'm missing out on £500 a year!
We don't get any other benefits, not a penny from anywhere, and i'm just so angry that we've fallen through a benefit black-hole and are counting pennies each month to make sure we can get by. What differnce does 2 years make, and if it was me who was unemployed and him working, we'd get it easy.
GRRRRRR!!!!! So Angry, Really Upset by stupid ageist rules.
Anyone else had this trouble???!
Proud to be dealing with my debts! :T
Lightbulb moment June 2008

This is my timey-wimey detector.
It goes ding when there's stuff.

  • Unfortunately there do have to be rules and you are on the wrong side.

If you have children or a disability you could still claim but I will assume you have neither.

There are age restrictions for other benefits too. Eg State Pension.

The 25 years rule is ridiculous, but there's not much you can do, sorry!
