Avent bottles keep leaking on my young baby

we are currently feeding our young baby on milk, using Avent bottles, but they keep on leaking out when feeding and the baby ends up soaked and half ends up on the carpet.
They keep on leaking out, we make sure we screw them on correctly and make sure the teat is in.
Has this happened to anyone else.

Yes! You are probably tightening them too much. Its a common fault.:heart2:I have a child with autism.:heart2:0

What I did to solve this problem is to put the lid on, shake the bottle, then loosen the lid to let the air out. Then reseal it...
Never had a leaking bottle since (athough she is now to old to use them lol)If the world is a stage... I want better lighting!0 -
How weird is that, the same thing kept happening to me, so I use to heat the milk up shake it then if it leaked I would unscrew the lid take the teat out and put it back in and pull it up so it was in properly then screw it back on, not dead tight but not loose either, I would then shake it again and normally it would work.
Until I read this thread I thought it was me, it use to drive me insane, before using Avent I use to use mothercare own bottles but this time round thought I would have ago with avent as I use to see loads of mums using these.
Glad I dont use bottles anymore

It took me 4 children to work out that AVENT are total rubbish!!! Yes they leak they have also been known to go bang.
Sometimes its down to the teats, they dont last very long.
I am now a tommy tippy user well ds it! lots lots happier and the bottles are cheap in savercentre cant remember how much but less than £2.50 and we will be using these for our next baba.Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -
When my daughter first started using bottles we found that this happened all the time no matter what make the bottles were!
In the end we did discover that it was because we were doing them up too tight..... all was fine after that :snow_laug2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
Mine have been a nightmare too ..... I have tried everything and nothing works. My toddlers Avent Magic Cup is even worse than the other bottles, i fiddled about with mine for about 30 minutes a few days ago and it still leaked.... I got myself so angered.A banker is someone who lends you an umbrella when the sun is shining, and who asks for it back when it start to rain.0

I was informed by Avent that if you put the cap on before you screw the white neck on you will lose the suction.
I always put the teat into the white neck and screw that on to the bottle and then put the clear cap on.
I used to put cooled boiled water in and seal the bottle and when I was ready to feed my son I would then pour the powder in and shake. If you do the same, make sure to take the cap off and screw the white neck on and then put the cap back on and shake the powder into the water. That way you will stay dry!
I have used a variety of bottles and Avent are by far the nicest and have suited our lifestyle.
This little tweaking is absolutely fine for me, doesn't take much effort

i sometimes have this problem but if u unscrew & put back on it usually is fine. i cover baby with towel at 1st till sure not leaking!
as an aside - dont be fooled into thinking u need expensive avent teats with avent bottles. boots own brand fit, as do the cheap ones i just got at home bargains - 79p for 2 & they come in a plastic ball which is great for keeping spare dummies in! cant remember name but they are colour coded for flow - medium flow r yellowish.Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0 -
I found that giving it one turn anti clockwise before tightening it (as tight as you like) solved the problem for me.
